I focus mainly on teaching new dogs old tricks. This doesn’t work either, but it is less embarrassing for the dog.

My parents are in their 80’s. They care a lot about not looking stupid, but they don’t seem to understand anymore what stupid looks like.

Perhaps they care not because it’s embarrassing, but because it might mean they’re senile.
