Gracie: Papi, playgrounds can be confusing... and sometimes, kids don't know where they fit in. Gracie: I mean, you got your swing babies, your sandbox kids, your monkey bar monkeys... Gracie: And you're merry-go-round daredevils. Gracie: But if you want to push my swings that's okay.

The problem these days is that many playgrounds have given in to our nanny state and and gotten rid of the good merry-go-rounds because they are too “dangerous.”

We had a slide and a swing in our playground. That was it. Not too confusing. The swing became less popular when they replaced the hard wooden seat with those awful strap things that pinched when you put your weight on it.

kids will make it more dangerous no matter what you do. they’ll climb up the outside of those tubular slides. why? because it’s there like mt. everest. the kids who crave it will always find a way around the nanny state
