Looks like no comments on ANY comic before about 10:15 EDT. Wonder if there was a server failure. Anyone know?

Beats me. I’m glad it’s a slow day here at the Discount Thrift Store. Otherwise, I’d be with a customer.

Romantic fiction will prepare you for love to the same extent that historical fiction will prepare you for time travel.

Me? Everything I know about relationships I learned from the first five seasons of Cheers!

They’re probably cheaper than enrolling in Bodice Ripping 101 at the local Community College.

Instruction manuals? Do any of the titles start with “The Joy of”?

I agree with Clark Kent. So many of today’s romance novels are just plain pornography. Some of the books I have read (because the story is otherwise well-written) have pages and pages that I skip because of the extremely detailed depictions of copulation.

Romance fiction is supposed to be fantasies about what women wish men, and relationships, would be like. If that kind of men and that kind of relationships is not your cup of tea (so to speak), then you can’t read these books. You will find them to be too sickeningly sweet.

It teaches nothing about how things work in the real world.

Poor, delusional Broomie! Any resemblance between the contents of a “romance novel” and reality is purely coincidental.

    @ JanCinVV,

I have done that too. I picked up one book a couple years ago because the premise was something that I thought indicated an interesting story. Unfortunately, the book failed to live up to that promise. It was clearly just a setting for graphic sex. I ended up skipping over about 90% of the pages. What was left lacked plot or originality. It took me less than a half hour before I was done with it.

Mail me the parts you skipped, and I’ll summarize them for you.
