Wait, I just noticed. Opal starts today’s strip by saying she misses not having the paper. Does that mean she used to not have it, but now that she does have it, she misses the days when she didn’t?
“I miss not being on fire” would be something someone on fire would say. By missing not having the paper means that she is presently getting the newspaper every morning but now she misses the time she didn’t get it.
“Wait, I just noticed. Opal starts today’s strip by saying she misses not having the paper. Does that mean she used to not have it, but now that she does have it, she misses the days when she didn’t?”~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Which, again, proves my theory that people don’t really hear what they’re saying. Kinda’ like “I could care less,” which actually means “I care somewhat.” (which does not mean what they mean.)I rest my case.
And I miss what they did to the comics, that’s why I fired the newspaper 10 years ago and went with online subscriptions here and comics kingdom. Had the newspapers not raped the comics, I would still be a loyal subscriber. But in the end, a guy’s gotta have his comics, every day.
We lost the afternoon paper about 7 years ago but I still occasionally get that “gotta look for the paper” urge around 4PM. It would have been better to keep the evening paper as the morning paper tells me about what I saw on the evening news the night before.

How about missing it getting soaked in the rain or a puddle without being in a plastic bag?

Apparently they’re not missing reading it.

Living in a condo these days, I sometimes miss my front porch. But not as often as the paperboy always did.

They probably live in Portland. The Oregonian no longer delivers the paper 3 days a week.

The newspaper is in the roses because he didn’t tip the delivery person at Christmas. One of life’s simple pleasures is reading the Sunday newspaper.

In the UK, the papers are pushed into the letter boxes.

They don’t have the paper delivered because Earl forgot to renew the subscription.
