My health insurance was very much like that until I could not pay for it anymore. But now if I get sick I can go to emergency since I don’t have any money it will be paid by the tax payers.

The more things change, the more they stay the same.

Unless it’s something traumatic, the ER will turn you away..

SIMON An earache is traumatic? I live next to a hospital and the ER is packed. I make an appointment with my doctor for Tuesday at 1pm, but if I was entitled and other peoples health premiums were paying, I could go to ER now for free. I know walking through the ER’s doors is going to cost me $600-1000 because my insurance companies are no dummies and are not going to pay ER rates for something that could be handled at a doctor’s office.

I hope you are ready to wait several months before seeing a specialist, be told at the last minute that your surgery was cancelled, due to a shortage of nurses, or be parked in a hallway on a gurney due to a lack of bed space on the floors (caused by a shortage of nurses). Oh and by the way, “free” healthcare is not free, since it is paid by your taxes.

Hey, okotoks, why don’t you find someone in the USA who’s had that happen to them as a result of the health care bill, instead of speculating?

Don’t worry, Doc; if you agree to split the fee with yourself, you should just break even.
