Girl: What's the farthest you can swim, Frazz?
Frazz: I don't know. Yet.
Girl: What's the difference between cluelessness and optimism?
Mr. Spaetzle: I don't know.
Girl: YET!
To bigpuma:From the other day:Sorry, I was away from my comics post the last couple of days.As far as the overtime, I read overtime as over time as in “these @$#&%# won’t leave and I’m stuck here until they do”.Such is the waitress who works at the end of the day and winds up with the drunken campers. And I doubt they get paid any more. It’s just more time. Like many of the jobs I’ve had in my life, which is probably why I didn’t even think of more money :-)
My normal practice was 2 miles, because my competition was 1 mile. The California hot-shots on the team were all a lot faster than I was . . . for the first hundred yards or so. Then I dropped them like files, because I didn’t get out of 3rd gear but I could stay in 3rd gear for a very long time.
I consider myself more of an optimist than smart. It does however irk me when someone types a question in here asking for the meaning of a certain word, a local reference that may not be understood outside the US or other country, or the origin of a phrase.
Smart people are willing to look things up. So then the answer to the question posed to Mr. Spaetzel might be along the lines of, “A clueless person is too stupid or lazy to learn new information. An optimist is one who is willing to learn new things and apply them in his life.” It is a challenging question to answer, as the two choices posed are not diametrically opposed to one another.

I used to regularly swim 4 miles. I wouldn’t want to do it again. It took a little over 2 hours.
