Frank and Ernest by Thaves for April 05, 2015
Transcript:
Museum of Aging: Sir Francis Bacon "I will never be an old man. To me, old age is always 15 years older than I am." Frank: I sure agree with that! I keep pushing the official start of old age off into the future. Ernest: Yeah, I came out of my midlife crisis and ran smack into my second childhood! H.L. Mencken "The older I grow, the more I distrust the familiar doctrine that age brings wisdom." Frank: I have to admit, I'm not getting any wiser with age. In fact, I just wish I knew now what I THOUGHT I knew 30 years ago! Ernest: I think I've become a little bit wiser --- if I could live my life over knowing what I know now, I'd still make the same mistakes. But I would start a lot sooner!

Wisdom is gained when one learns one doesn’t know what one thought he knew.

Some people say “age is just a number” … those people aren’t suffering achy joints, poor vision, bad hearing, loss of memory, and … uh …Anyhow, when you are suffering all those things, you know age is quite a bit more than “just a number.”

I’m afraid that once I figure it all out, I won’t be able to remember what “it” is.
