Pi Day is very special for me, you know, because of my Pie Shop…and I’ve been working very hard all day.

We sell a lot of pies for the holiday…. .and some are intricate, like this one, which is my Pi Day favorite….not just because it’s blueberry, but because, of course…Pie R Square:

We also have a special at the Tiki….. now till 11:57 pm Saturday… Oh, heck, let’s leave it through Sunday breakfast too….now till 1:37 Sunday afternoon….

Anyhow…. thanks, Fenton, for starting the special…I had a hard time getting here tonight!

First…. there was a Windows update last night… they call it “Patch Tuesday” but for me, it happened Thursday night….and today my computer wouldn’t work!

I’m wondering if others had problems.

I finally got it booted late this afternoon, and then, tonight, my internet stopped working… Eventually some sites would open but not others, including GoComics.

I waited ages to talk to someone at my ISP. , .he said they’d been having mysterious outages, and had gotten hundreds of calls…and just when we started to talk about whether there’s any way this Windows update was involved…our call was cut off….

I’m trying hard NOT to believe that Friday the 13th is unlucky, that computer gremlins exist, or…that Microsoft (bwah ha ha…) is listening everywhere…

But….

What will you be doing at 9:26?

Wont happen again till 2115. Long time to wait for Pi.

You don’t say what version of Windows your laptop was running, or what happened to it…

But the Windows update Iammu and I were talking about above just happened this thursday night, not weeks ago.

You get an update about once a month if you have your computer set to install them… though not for Windows XP, which is no longer supported.

It’s rare for them to cause problems… but not unknown, though even rarer for them to be fatal.

I haven’t read of any problems with the February update, which was far smaller.

I’ve looked too… but he only one I’ve seen Microsoft admit caused any problems was to Windows7, and I run 8.1.

Funny, cos it was a boot problem and so was mine…but supposedly Win 8.1 can’t get that particular problem because the bit of software it the update installed is already part of Win 8..
