Western culture has things a little backwards right now. We think that if we had every comfort available to us… INCOMING HEAD OFFICE …we’d be happy. We equate comfort with happiness. EMPLOYEE OF THE YEAR CONGRATULATIONS ENJOY YOUR NEW MERCEDES BENZ And now we’re so comfortable we’re miserable. CLICK There’s no struggle in our lives. No sense of adventure. We get in a car. We get in an elevator. It all comes easy. DING! What I’ve found is that I’m never more alive than when I’m pushing. And I’m in pain. And I’m struggling for high achievement. It’s all window dressing. We can all feel awake and alive wherever we are. It all depends on our consciousness and our practiced ability to live in the Real.
But running’s good, too.

Fantastic. I love it—-the words and the landscape and the pushing it. Of course if it goes too far, we get “127 Hours” (a movie about a guy that made his personal /spiritual / ego quest too much of a solo gig, got into trouble, and had to amputate his arm, in the desert…great movie. Anyway, LOVE this one, Gavin. I don’t run much, but I do a lot of solo hiking, and 14’ers at night….
