To those who would claim that a tree can’t possibly think because they don’t have the material infrastructure for thinking, I would point out that we have no way of knowing what form such infrastructures might take. It used to be thought that birds had to be stupid because they didn’t have prefrontal cortexes, but it turns out that in corvids especially the nidopallium caudolaterale serves the same function, arguably more efficiently gram per gram than the human cortex. “There are more things in heaven and earth…”
