So… Notta Fallar is back, and the package seems to be a normal-sized package, not a certain someone who was knocked out in the alley.

I see that Blaze is still running her “day job” operation back home. Maybe that’s also part of the reason she cringed at the delivery assignment. She had “better things to do” with her time.

Its interesting, too, that Notta was expecting the package and knew that Mr. Bigg was returning from Europe when the other gang members didn’t.

Well, you’ve GOTTA love this! Who hasn’t been waiting for the reappearance of Mrs. Chin Chillar! (If you’re not one, don’t let me know!) Doubt that if Purdy Fallar were Mr. Bigg, that he’d have to have someone deliver a package to his sister. Kind of brings me back to my Mr. Bribery speculation: Did he actually die when the Chin Chillars dropped him through the prison roof? The guards who found the body couldn’t identify who it was, and neither Tracy nor his team ever acknowledged his death. I know that it is just wishful thinking on my part, but Bribery & Ugly Christine were two of the best characters that Chester Gould ever came up with! I can keep hope alive, can’t I?!

Didn’t see that one coming.

Notta Fallar is connected to the Blackhearts? Cool!How does Notta afford a nice place, being an ex-con with no visible means of support and having to take care of her invalid brother?I guess we know now — she has friends in high places. Or is it employers? But what does she do for Mr. Bigg that made this courier trip his first order of business after reviewing everyone’s work? And why did it require the Blackhearts’ “best” courier?Hmmm.

If Mr Bigg were Bribery, which I doubt, the “package” is probably a bomb, seeing how the Chillars treated him (not that he didn’t deserve it). As for poor Purdy, he’s in PVS.My guess? Mr Bigg is Scorpio! Funny the bit of Blaze accepting the assignment as if she had a choice!Good morning all!

Well, the heart symbol normally has the point at the bottom, so the “8” needs to be oriented the same.Of course, modern playing cards can be upside-down or right side up—it doesn’t matter, because the value and suit are printed on both ends. Interestingly, the 8 hearts in the middle of an “8” card are not normally four one way and four the other way, but rather five and three. I suppose that’s what Sidney meant about the posted on the wall being “upside-down.”

I was saying a couple of days ago that the figures in the lineup were arranged in two triangles, mirror and flipped, or words to that effect.Another way of saying that, perhaps less confusingly, is that one triangle is a version of the other triangle rotated 180 degrees. Playing cards also have that characteristic.

It’s quite noticeable on “face cards”:Also, you might notice (though not as obvious in this example) that if you draw a line between the two figures on a face card so that body parts of each are on either side of the line, that line will usually not be straight across, but at a slight angle, just like the line between Méliès and Venus on the “lineup.” I’m not necessarily saying that Joe was aware of all this playing-card-like imagery, but I think it works that way. Maybe it’s just sub-conscious or maybe I’m making it up.

Mrs. Chin Chillar! It’s been almost two years since we last saw her, and now this. What is her part in the Blackhearts organization? And what’s in the package? More and more questions to tantalize us.

If Wikipedia is correct, and “Archie’s TV Funnies” ran 16 episodes, then two of them are missing from those uploads.

Unless Tracy didn’t appear in those.

Could it be like “Road to Perdition,” by former Dick Tracy writer Max Allan Collins, no less?

Well, I guess that not everybody have read it or seen the movie, so what I’m suggesting is that the delivery is a note saying: “You owe me a favor, so kill the messenger and we’re quits.”

My, oh my … thank you all for the love! You are special av09 & thank you for your special. ..My bride is in Italy right now and when that happened I just wanted to vent somehow. Lets face it, you all have been in my life for some time now and we both here are usually pretty privet people. Both of us have facebook things and I did not go there and cry.

I believe that every Christian that ever had a bird, cat, dog, hamster, ferret, horse or what ever pet that brought pure joy into their lives … Will Be There too!

Well, Notta Fallar…seems my theory about Mr. Bigg being Purdy Fallar might be closer to being accurate.

What if she read the number wrong and delivered it to the wrong house? Then she has announced that she is delivering things for The Blackhearts to a complete stranger.

I’m glad to hear that you enjoyed the graphic presentation. It took a little extra time to put the pieces together, which is why I didn’t post it until today’s strip, but the actual playing card pictures are courtesy of Wikipedia Commons, so it was just a matter of finding the ones I wanted. I tried to put a black border line around them, but GoComics has disabled that command, too.

The hand out of the car was a bit withered, and wondered why Purdy never came back (how did he survive while Notta was in prison?)

As much as I’d like to see Mr Bribery again, Mr Bigg has not exhibited the quirky criminal traits (branding, shrunken heads, smoking cat, rose therapy, ridiculous death traps) that made him such a memorable character.
