With enough money, you can keep your antique car going indefinitely. The movie “Tucker” included shots with some of the 47 of 50 Tuckers produced – still maintained after all these years.
A friend and I once made a trip in a Karmann Ghia whose starter only worked about 15% of the time, so we always parked it facing downhill when we could. Ah, for the good old days when one could start a car by pushing it, or a motorcycle by kicking.

Many people like to hang in to their old cars. I was one of them. As time moved on my cars were in the shop and it was cheaper to buy a new one.

My buddy [sic] started his Austin Mini by having me push it across the motel parking lot in gear. By the time we were across the motor was running.

The only way that old Desoto will hit 60mph any more is down a mine shaft with a tailwind!
