Bobby brings up an interesting point. If Max is at least psychologically dependent on whatever it is Bobby’s been giving him, why doesn’t he wilt in practice? And if he kept wearing out in practice, why would he still be a key player? We used to look forward to games because they were so much easier than practice.
Does his mom live in the medicine cabinet? Is the pill bottle prominently displayed in the middle of a room? I realize that this is a fake excuse and that Max is a known imbecile, but I’m still having a hard time imagining how mom’s proximity to the pill bottle could be more than a momentary occurrence.
Eh, think about it, Bitsy. High school-age kids often don’t think things through. It’s reasonable for overstressed, tightly wound Bobby to come up with a lame excuse, and credible for Max Fakin’ to be too clueless to figure it out..FREE LUMPY!
Bobby seems pleased with wherever his right hand has landed in P2. Also, is it just me or does Leisl seem particularly delighted with Max’s sudden performance anxiety?
P1 – What part of Bobby is saying he needs to encourage Liesl?P3 – Is that a cactus behind Max or overgrown weeds? Forget about the floors, Mop – somebody needs to mow the halls.
In all reality, in P 1 Bobby and his hamburger have shrunk compared to Lumpy and his burger .P 2 the last time I saw hands and arms like Bobby has they were those of the Old Witch in Tales From The Crypt comics , and finally what did Bobby make in the test tube for Max to try ?
In all reality , look Max my Mom’s vodka bottle is next to my pill bottle which is next to my Dad’s reefer stash. Come on over and see if you don’t believe me .
Sorry Max, there’s only room for one monstrous ego in Milford and it’s not yours. As The Rolling Stones “Mother’s Little Helper” blasts in the background in P3.
Where are the frog legs? In the cafeteria in panel one or in the lab in panel two? Who knows?……….. who cares? Time for ‘bas-a-ball’ which this year will be highlighted by Chico Escuela’s grandson being the out of know where walk on character for this season.

Mom probably noticed that the last bottle was empty several days early. Those moms, they’ve got eagle eyes.

Personally I’d have given the guy a placebo and seen how he did.

Any guesses what they are doing with the microscope and test tubes in P 2. And what happened to those snazzy lab coats they were wearing last week?

What does Lumpy do on the days when he doesn’t appear in this strip, and how much more interesting are his activities than this plot?

Lumpy, looking all studly in P1. Someone is giving him a makeover. Speaking of makeovers, here’s today’s Mopped Up Thorp.
