Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal by Zach Weinersmith for March 11, 2015
Transcript:
Bobby's pretty upset I think you'd better talk to him. Dad I'm afraid to die. Oh no you aren't. Your brain has many parts, and most of them have nothing to do with fear of death. A whole bunch of brain problems could remove your fear of death or even your belief that you're still alive, and in all those situations you'd have pretty much the same personality as you do now. So you don't fear death. A less self-aware part of the brain is just prompting fear of death for evolutionary reasons. And by the time you're old, there'll probably be a way to flip off that part and die without feeling you lost anything. You interrupted me! I was gonna say I'm afraid to dial the girl I like! Now it all seems pointless! And that's when I just took off running.

Even if he were afraid to die, arguing semantics helps nothing.

Pretentious pedantic primate philosophizing. Winter is almost over, and —.O sweet spontaneous earth how often have the doting fingers of purient philosophers pinched and poked thee ,has the naughty thumb of science prodded thy beauty .how often have religions taken thee upon their scraggy knees squeezing and buffeting thee that thou mightest conceive gods (but true to the incomparable couch of death thy rhythmic lover thou answerestthem only with spring).e.e.cummings

Dial? What’s this “dial” you talk of? When was the last time ANYONE “dialed” anything?I think you’re just sublimating, and need to seek professional help.
