dkram: I remember playing it on paper as well. My dad made up the grid on paper for us and copied it at work so we had a ton of them. We used them all, too! How excited we were when the plastic version came out. Don’t remember which one of us got it for Christmas that year, but we ALL used it until all the little pieces gradually disappeared.

Do they still make the Battleship game these days?
I remember the combos I’d like to call when I was a kid was “K-9” and “C-6 (seasick)”. Silly, wasn’t I?

I bet they are playing with real ships.

Joe and Pacejv: I think you guys are both a little dinghy!
Dkram over 14 years ago
I use to play it on graph paper, two 10 sq. grids, mark your ships on one, your shots on the other.
Of course it’s more fun with the plastic set.

Yes they still make the game. It’s $10.00 at Wal-mart.

Battle Ship “Fleet Commander” can be played at Yahoo or Pogo games with others over the internet.
Battle Ship rates right up there with Battling Tops and Rockem Sockem Robots. I just dated myself didn’t I

Shires don’t have kings. They used to have ealdormen, which later bacame known as reeves. (“shire reeve” became “sheriff”).
