Billion Dollar Limited is the third of the seventeen animated Technicolor short films based upon the DC Comics character Superman. Produced by Fleischer Studios, Billion Dollar Limited centers on a train carrying one billion dollars in gold to the US mint, which is sabotaged by robbers before Superman intervenes. The short was released by Paramount Pictures on January 9, 1942.1This might be a VERY interesting crossover!
For those keeping track, this is Tracy’s first appearance in the strip in 17 days and Sam’s first in 19 days, but this strip is really about the criminals, not about Tracy and Sam. Not to worry. I’m sure they’ll be around quite a bit—they’ve got a train robbery to stop—or something. I wonder if they know Jimmy Choo Shooz.
Good morning Tracy fans. ___________@Avenger09: another good poem. ___________@cpalmeresq: thanks for the Superman info.___________Y’all have an awesome day everyone.
"At Ray and Willy.Left a note at the end of yesterday.I saw that. Thanks! I enjoyed putting that Notta presentation together, and I’m glad you found it helpful. I enjoy researching the characters I really like, so if there are any others from the 60s or 70s you’re ever wondering about, I’m always here to ask. I doubt my reply will be as long as the Notta Report, though. By the way, did you see my reply about what to do in Firefox? Were you able to open the full-size image files?
So I guess Jimmy Choo Shooz one of those small-timers.It would be funny if several of these small-timers were to try robbing the train at the same time. Chaos ensues…
“The Billion Dollar Limited” was one of the classic Superman cartoons by the Fleischer Bros. in the 1940s. They were a primary influence on the look and tone of the Bruce Timm Batman cartoons from the 1990s. But don’t take my word for how great they are, go to that tube video site and see for yourself.
Now we know exactly what the Billion dollar Train is carrying, and whence it comes.Would Tracy consider Jimmy Choo Shooz a “small-timer”? He is a big one….

Well, the link appeared here a couple of weeks ago when the story title first leaked out, but here it is again, for those who missed it the first time: Superman – Billion Dollar Limited (1942) (right-click and open in a new tab)
I like how ancillary characters and events are given space. Not terribly fond of shows etc. where a main character hoggs it all.I totally agree. Neil just pointed out that Tracy had not appeared for 17 days, and maybe that was a bit long. But the Dick Tracy strip has always been told from a “third person” point of view, so that we can see here, there, and in Gould’s famous phrase “On the other side of town.” And I do enjoy that form of story telling. Ed McBain was a master at that in he 87th Precinct books. Interestingly, Lee Child varies between first person and third person in his Jack Reacher series. (Some books are one, some are the other) Getting back to Tracy, I miss him if he’s gone too long, but I do like stories with varying points of view.
Just double-checked, looks like yesterday’s re-posts of the Notta history remain, at least they’re still available for viewing as of right now.
Best guess is that the site’s issue with your initial posting was length, it’s possible there could even be some automatic function at GoComics which purges very long posts, thinking that they might be spam.

So far, so good."Thanks, AnyFace! I’m glad to hear that. I’m actually planning to add to the Notta Report later tonight, if you can believe that! I realized after I posted everything that I barely mentioned what is probably the most memorable and significant part of her story — the chase in space, the fate of the $100,000, and how the Chin Chillars found their way to Piggy’s farm. The new material will be intended to fill in that gap. I’ll post it on Monday’s comments page, and that way we’ll have everything in one place. Kind of a one-stop Notta Shoppe. And thanks once again for your kind encouragement yesterday. I have to admit I was pretty down after my original long post suddenly disappeared. It was people like you and Pequod77 and Gweedo and Ray Toler and JPuzzleWhiz and Starman1948 and Neil Wick who picked me up and got me motivated to give it another go. Thanks again for your kind support! Appreciate it!

Yes, indeed, Sam. That was a Superman cartoon. Apparently “some small South American” country has a lot of gold!
AnyFace over 9 years ago
I’d thought for a moment this might tie into the gold Purdy had stashed.

Or was that gold stashed on the moon?
