Phoebe and Her Unicorn by Dana Simpson for April 02, 2015
April 01, 2015
April 03, 2015
Transcript:
Phoebe: I'm Phoebe! Sorry about the rock.
Marigold: Do not be! I was trapped by my own reflections. I am so beautiful that when I see myself, I cannot look away. You are so fortunate to be less attractive than I!
Phoebe: ...hey.
You asked your questions yesterday, but you filed them under Monday’s strip. With the activity as heavy as it is right now, few people are looking there.
In general, Marigold’s physical features (allowing for the fact that this is a cartoon, not realistic illustration) are the usual attributes of a traditional Western unicorn, white and vaguely horselike, but smaller, horned, and with cloven hooves and a lion’s tail.
Most of the rest is Dana’s invention. Three years of the original web version of the strip are on file here, but the story is restarting for newspapers, and will not necessarily work out the same way.

Fun Fact: If you flip between today’s strip and and the one on April 24 2012, it animates!

I like Phoebe’s earlier hairstyle.

So Dana, what’s the response from newspapers and their readers, now that it’s out there? Or is it too soon yet to tell?

I wouldn’t let it bother you, Phoebe. As far as Marigold is concerned a winning Powerball-Ticket isn’t as attractive as her.

Slight change from the original strip, but Marigold’s blunt assesment of Phoebe’s looks compared to her own is still funny!

Sorry! I don’t monitor my comments obsessively. I answer questions when I see them, but I don’t always.
