For a young dog, a stick is a good toy, or actually just about anything that is thrown. Of course, I’ve always had dogs with hunting or retrieving genes from at least one parent.

A dangly toy like that is for a cat, not a dog. Dogs like to chase and chew, not bat at something in front of their nose.
