Phoebe and Her Unicorn by Dana Simpson for March 17, 2015
Transcript:
Phoebe: I really didn't mean to take your ball. Girl: I just assumed you were being mean to me. Big kids are mean sometimes. If You're not, maybe you could be my bodyguard! Phoebe: Why would you want ME as a bodyguard? Girl: Another kid told me all fourth graders are ninjas. Phoebe: That's... an exaggeration.

You know….
Dana gets a lot of compliments on her artwork, and deservedly so, but she also has some great writing skills and today’s strip is a perfect example.Just when this storyline appeared to be headed into cliche territory, she turned it in a completely undexpected, ( and yet perfectly sensible ) direction. This is something I’ve observed several times not only here, but on some of the Ozy and Millie strips as well.Bravo Dana, bravo.

Awww… you just gotta love that little girl! The way she looks up at Phoebe is downright adorable.
I remember when this arc ran in 2013. I was hoping she would have become a regular cast member. Maybe we will see more of her in the future.

Why does Phoebe remind me of Marigold in the last panel? Something about her reply and the way she’s standing…

Pheobe’s hesitation in the last panel is gold. She wanted to give into the fable, but she chose not to, knowing that handling a fare power would be a greater responsibility than she could’ve possessed. Besides, if the girl found out that Phoebe was lying, she’d tattle on her again, thus sending Phoebe down another pit of trouble.
