Music-wise I went from records to cassettes to CD’s to MP3’s. I actually paid for the upgrade to cassettes and then to CD’s. I’ll be damned if I ever pay to upgrade music I’ve already bought again…
I used to buy dvd’s for Friday night movie night with a group of theater friends. You don’t really notice the $10-$15 every week, but after a couple of years, you end up with thousands spent on discs that the majority have only been watched once. Even with the switch to netflix, many of the old movies we wanted to see had to be bought.

“AKK!” is right.

Skip Blu-ray and wait for 4K. It’ll improve DVDs beyond Blu-ray and probably cost a lot less than a Blu-ray conversion.

4K will upconvert standard DVD beyond Blu-ray quality.
