If all four of them get out of this alive, the other three are REALLY going to owe Kirbee a pizza. With ALL the toppings.

With wings and a strong thermal updraft, Irving probably has the best odds of surviving. Unless he bursts into flames, of course.

Ahhh…even more to like about Kirbee. Not only does she care about others and think beyond what her colony teaches but she is as tenacious as heck.

How long can a semi-sentient arthropod live any way? 1-3 years at best?

I’m confused about Holly. Can’t tell what position she is in or where her face is. But perhaps she could grab Irving?

Based on the “rope”, it looks to me like Kirvee got pulled back into the laundry chute. The laundry rope is behind her back, and the opening is before her face. TopWebComics voting links:

I think, maybe, this is the immediate aftermath of all the air upstairs where Kirbee was, having been drawn down the laundry shaft, and we see everybody struggling against the air current. We may also be seeing heat ripples obscuring the view. JusSayin Chic! Chic! Don’t go into the light Chic! It’s a trick! Fight against your instincts, and don’t go to the light! Not yet, anyway.

That wind is a good thing, since it’s rushing into the shaft it’s cooler than the fire at their heals. If that fire vents somewhere behind them ( someone opens an outer door perhaps) then that airflow reverses- and our intrepid adventurers are gone with the wind!

John stepped in a wrote the main cricket account. He is the most tuned in to animals I have ever known.I actually saw this happen. Kirbee is a good hearted brave friend. They owe her more than a pizza. How about a death by chocolate cake?

The fire must have an alternate outlet for the smoke to go, otherwise it would be going up that laundry chute (and cooking everyone inside) instead of drawing air down it.

Yes, Kirbee definitely deserves some praise for this. I believe there are clues she’s about to become a combination of The Ditz and Knight In Sour Armor to our little group.

If Holly had a mouse’s life span, she’s have been dead about 5 panes into the strip.
