Is it just me or is Thompson drawing Viola much larger than usual?

notbugme, I was just about to ask the same thing.

Of course Viola knows about Ernesto, they were vying for her affection a while back!

Poor Ernesto. It’s not easy being imaginary.

I bet they’re both imaginary. HEY WAIT – they’re ALL imaginary!!

Indiana Ernesto and the Fountain of Age

I thought that she was bigger as well, but assumed that she had been drinking from the Fountain Of Age.

Viola is the first with a growth spurt! but then, she’s first in a lot of things I suspect.

If Ernesto really is imaginary, it bodes well for Petey’s Viola-related hopes if he’s a folie a deux…

Doesn’t Ernesto’s curl keep changing sides? That settles it, he must be imaginary.

Girls at that age can be alot taller than the boys. Boys start catching up around 13, 14.

I was thinking she was teasing him about his imaginary friend . Which just makes this strip more interesting .

Has it ever been established that Viola’s the same age as Petey? Petey’s only 8 (at times he seems 47), but Viola strikes me as being older (not just bigger). Maybe 10 or even 11.

She brought him his homework when he was sick, which would imply she’s a classmate as well as a schoolmate, but we so rarely actually see Petey in a classroom setting…

Viola seems to change size with the perception Petey has of her…when she is at an advantage over poor Petey, she grows…
