Scaredest person I ever saw was the secretary at a company I worked at in Tokyo a number of years ago. She’s Japanese, and the office was on the 9th floor of the building. When the shaking started, she bolted under the table and curled up into a tight little ball. The quake lasted about 1 minute, and when it finished she was in absolute tears, repeating “kowai, yo”. She couldn’t work for the rest of the day and was a complete wreck she she was sent home early.
