Pooch Cafe by Paul Gilligan for May 29, 2010
Transcript:
Poncho: Plank of wood, you were there with me from the beginning. You're the only one who knows me from back when I began. "Take a look at me now....'cause there's just an empty space....and there's nothing left here to remind me, just the memory of your face...." Back when I began...back when I began... "Su-su-sudio..."

Just don’t lose the plank.

I would have never guessed that Poncho would be a big Phil Collins fan. First, he sings some of the lyrics to Take A Look At Me Now and then walks off singing the chorus to Sussudio.

I just love Poncho. He’s really “too much”. (I mean that in a good way.) :>)

According to the Pooch Cafe website, we’re going to be moving into some uncharted territory, and it looks like we’re in for some surprises come Monday. http://poochcafe.com/
SPOILER ALERT!!Get ready for “Poncho: Year One.” It’ll be an extended (and open-ended) continuity, returning to Poncho’s birth (before, even). Sort of his “origin story”, covering Poncho’s life before the strip began (10 years ago, now). The Sunday strips will still be treated separately, but the dailies will be ultimately form something like a graphic novel (Gilligan’s hoping to get it collected and published as such, once it’s done). In a webcast interview (available through a link on the site), he doesn’t yet know exactly where it’ll go or how long it will last. It seems to be an experiment, rather than a stunt (he said he’s established enough at this point that it’s unlikely that this will either gain or lose him papers). It’s not a rebooting or retooling, either; the type of humor he’s been doing since 2000 will remain intact, and it doesn’t sound like it’s going to be revisionist. I’m looking forward to it.

Well, I was late to the party (as usual!) so it’ll be nice to be on even footing with everyone.
