Still can’t help but think of how this would play out in real life, and that’s just another bad move on Mrs. Godfrey’s part. Clearly she knows them well enough to know they don’t like each other, and is just punishing Nate for worrying out loud. Kids have feelings, too; adults need to remember that something that seems trivial or funny can actually be a huge deal for kids. Having someone in your own class as a tutor when you’re falling behind is already insulting, since it fosters unfair competition between academically gifted and struggling students, there doesn’t need to be more added onto that..

@ frost46 – They’ve had a thing going for each other for a long time, they’ve just never realized it. They make great pair.
