When I was a little lid, I was told by the grownups that if I swallowed a watermelon seed, it would take root in my tummy and grow to produce another watermelon. (I was told so very many inaccurate things, it boggles the mind.) For a long time, when I saw a pregnant woman, I believed she had swallowed a watermelon seed.
