I am not at all sure I understand today’s strip. Is Lila saying her friends would rather be honest with each other than be lied to? We know already that Drew prefers to be lied to about that cad Tad.
Unfortunately, the scoundrel does have a point - is it the right time to lay more bad news on Drew?
Man, you just do not expect this kind of story in a comic strip. I am impressed and think you guys are doing a great job.
It really burns me when the villian makes too much sense! Ugh! You are right Ms. Capulet, Lila is running off nothing but misery fueled adrenaline and I just learned last night that when we are angry our IQ drops 10 points…the angrier the dumber we get and we do and say dumb things.
Yes, this is not the time to say anything about the cheatin’ husband!
Wow this strip gets better all the time. It’s a prickly situation when someone you care about is getting screwed over & there’s never a tactful way to tell someone the truth when it’ll eventually come out anyway
Tad wasn’t divorced or widowed when Drew met him, and he wasn’t gay or a socially awkward introvert either, so she should really have wondered what his damage was before getting engaged, let alone married. He’s obviously been a player his entire adult life, and while people are more adaptable than “leopards” & “old dogs” that doesn’t mean it’s easy to change a life long lifestyle without first admitting the problem and getting help/support in overcoming it …
My first question is why did Tad marry her in the first place?? Did he just want to appear respectable? Does he actually love her? Did he want to start a family (with a partner who wasn’t just fluff)?
This begs a few more questions … What does he want now? Does he care about Drew? Is he willing to change? How will losing the baby affect him?
— Drew, on the other hand, is weak & vulnerable right now, and she isn’t going to want to deal with all this — even less than she did when Lila first mentioned it before the wedding. She wasn’t really awake & aware of Tad’s absence during her surgery, etc. and really needs to have something to hold onto right know — I’m betting (at least for the moment) that that’s going to be Tad …
Re: “My first question is why did Tad marry her in the first place?? Did he just want to appear respectable?”
Quite possibly. Surgery is a somewhat “traditional” field in many ways and there could have been some subtle (or not so subtle) hints from his boss, wondering when he was going to settle down with that “nice young lady,” particularly if it was known if she was pregnant.

Lilah hasn’t slept in how long? She’s barely eaten and she’s running off fury and misery-fueled adrenaline. She’s being awfully nice.

I would say wait, but what kind of lies will Tad spin in the meantime. Perhaps plant the seed of doubt gently like Iago did in Othello.

I think Lila will only confirm what Drew has been suspecting, especially since Tad didn’t show up for Drew for awhile.

All those who think this isn’t the time: Please designate the right time to tell a spouse they are being cheated on.

Do like Elin and bust his nuts with a golf club. Or any readily available weapon.
