Too much of anything can kill you. Alcohol, caffeine, theobromine (chocolate), sugar, salt, you name it. Even too much water can kill you, and not necessarily by drowning.
Someone drank a few gallons of iced tea a day for long enough for it to hurt his kidneys (saw it on Snopes). They knew the chemical was there, it’s just they don’t think of someone literally drinking over a gallon a day, every day. And I think they did have those infused drinks, caffeine and ginkgo, sold for that purported purpose. Still might (haven’t looked at the stuff in the health food drink aisle in a while)

Will wonders never cease. Certainly won’t drink it, though…
