Back in about 1991 I worked with my first pediatric cochlear implant patient. At 5 years old (the youngest we could do back then), he’d used power hearing aids all his life, but got no benefit. When I first turned on the sound, he started screeching and signing to take it off. His mother told him ‘no’ so he inhaled for a large scream and realized it was him making that obnoxious noise. He promptly quit screaming. It didn’t take long for him to protest when it was time to take the device off at night.

Adorable! This would be the “blowing bubbles” BAK-up sound, without the bubbles. (Thank you, thank you very much).
