Holly: “Thank you. And I’ll put in a good word on your behalf when you wipe your godforsaken colony off the face of the planet. No hard feelings, it’s not personal. This is strictly business.”
That’s not a very nice argument, Holly. “You owe me” after Kirbee already risked her own life for you? “You people”? You’re just lucky Kirbee doesn’t walk off right there.
I hope Holly still has plenty of that gumption left when she’s trying (and I do mean trying!) to tell everyone about the fire that’s going to consume them if they don’t get off their tails and make themselves useful for a change.…Unless they expect Chic to fan out the flames.
At the top of the hole must be a trapdoor or people up there would fall in. Kirbee would be the best one to tell about the fire, if they haven’t already got a whiff of smoke. Kirbee is a very good hearted being.Makes me wonder what she was doing before the mutation. We all probably expect that all people will converge bang, bang, bang. Holly, Chic, Kirbee, Monica, Helena, Sarah, the king snake-lizard, and the zombie Jim!
I just noticed the expression on Chic. Wonder what he thinks of all this.Maybe he sees that other people also have rough lives. If he bonded well with his mom while she was caring for him, hiding him from others, that will go far to strengthen his stamina.Any ideas on Chic?In the boxing ring I noticed nipples on Phil. They aren’t mammals and they must be a hold over from pre-mutation. Male rats lack any nipples, makes sense.
The dialogue has a nice flow with the safeties switched off.More appropriately, I applaud Aaron’s choice in this case. Sometimes, wingdings and ampersands are not a suitable stand-in when you need a good swear to hammer the goddamn point home.
It might be for the best if Holly yelled about the fire and almost nobody believed an outsider. If they believed and everybody made an “everybody for himself” dash for the exit, there would ensure that few people got out before it was too late (and those who did would probably not be the ones who could do much about the fire.If Holly’s warnings fell on the ears of a responsible lizards, like Piotr. They could slip out, check the situation and quietly organize a fire brigade. The trick is to get people to leave the arena without panicking them.
Difficult to say how many “responsible lizards” there are. Remember the two guys who dumped the “find the dead raccoon” job on Kirbee? It might be her, Piotr, maybe the leader…after that, it gets kinda thin.Did Piotr go to the fight?

She may be a dullard, but she isn’t hard-hearted; just a ditz.

That is one not very happy squeaker. Though she does have a bit of a point.

besides, since everyone is at the fight it’s probably the best place to be to warn them of the fire so they can all evacuate.

Look for whoever set the fire among those who did not attend the fight…
