This is one of my favorites. I have been a high school math teacher for 28 years and have been teaching “the next generation” for a while. It’s pretty cool. How about bringing back the classic with the Plugger preschool?
I had the same Jr. High School (Hey, that outta be a plugger gag itself now) math teacher as my dad, but that wasn’t nearly as satisfying as being a freshman on the first day for my new high school band teacher, and being there again when he retired during my daughter’s senior year.
Absolutely reminds me of my grade school days. I can remember when one of my teachers came to see me when I was sick and she sent her pet squirrel to keep me company until I was better. You seldom hear about those days anymore.
I felt sorry for my youngest brother, who always got a lot of “Oh no, not another one of them!” on his first day of school. Our older brothers had left an iindelible mpression, it seems.
My daughters were 4 years apart. the older was a real problem child, when teachers would ask the younger one(in high school) if she was related, she would claim to be an only child and have no relatives. Our name is very rare, but she got away with it.

And sometimes that’s NOT so good.

If I recall, J.T. Lambert of TV’s “Step by Step” got his stepmother Carol’s high school math teacher.

And now your mom has the figure her teacher (who now teaches you) used to have.

It’s time to retire when the GRANDCHILDREN of your first students start to arrive!

I’m with Jane Cl. I retired the year before the grandchildren of the kids I taught were due to enter the middle school I was teaching at.

Is there a schoolteacher Heaven?
Well, if there is, I’m pretty sure most (all?) of my teachers are there…
