Cuco: More reader letters from the internet. (The names have been changed to prevent further embarrassment to the authors) Your comic strip La Cucaracha is offensive because cockroaches in the USA are German Cockroaches! You are a *^#)$^ race traitor! Signed, Juana La Loca Cuco: If the internet has taught us anything it's that we should immediately give an opinion on something we've never read, seen or understood.

Like I would’ve known that factoid as said in the middle panel (the German cockroach thing).

Apparently Juana doesn’t realize that there are a lot of aspects of Mexican culture that come from Germany. For instance, banda music and Negra Modelo beer. (Then again, German cockroaches apparently don’t originate from Germany).

Pretty sure there was a fair amount of German immigration to Mexico back in the day, so when they cross the border to the U.S., they’re called Mexicans.

Dude, you really need to chill on these strips that are DEAD ON. Mr. Alcaraz has hit the nail, don’t be the nail.

I read his strip to get a different point of view, and there are times I don’t agree with him. But you are clearly biased against him. I suggest you read the About La Cucaracha, since it seems obvious you understand neither the cartoonist’s life experiences nor his points of view. This is his strip. Create your own with your own points of view if you really dislike his that much.
It’s worth noting he’s merely quoting in panel 2 an actual letter he got.
Lalo is clearly not afraid to target not only right wing conservatives, but those to whom think he’s aligned with them. Frankly it puzzles me why you find this a negative: it’s the rare person who attempts to see things as objectively as possible, rather than falling into a comfortable rut.
In my opinion, he’s targeting what he finds ludicrous in human behavior, and his particular niche is Mexican-American – because that’s what he knows.
It’s clear to me that you read all his strips with a closed mind, having already made up your mind about the subject before even reading the day’s offering. You’re not offering a contrary point of view – you’re just being contrary.
I’ve read many of your comments before. They’re rarely constructive in any fashion. Your constant negativity must really drag you down, sir.
I don’t think you are a troll. I think you really believe the things you say. I don’t think you write what you write just to aggravate others. But you need a more reasoned response. Frankly, I think you’re projecting onto Lalo what you show yourself to be: petulant.
From time to time, I agree with your point of view – but it’s hard to support you when you do it in such a negative fashion. In my opinion, in Lalo’s case – you are not an indie thinker: you’ve already created a filter in your head for him, and nothing he could say will change that point of view.

And did you know some Mormons moved to Mexico in the last century? :-)Hence the possibility we might have had a Mexican President in the last election?I, for one, never saw a birth certificate…

Did you know that some Irish moved to Mexico and fought with them against the USA? Scots also settled there. Even mentioned in the old Lone Ranger TV series.
Yep. Mexico’s heritage is pretty multicultural. There are also a Lebanese descendants (i.e., Salma Hayek), African descendants, Chinese descendants, etc.

Cucarachas have been on the earth 300 million years. See http://ento.psu.edu/extension/factsheets/german-cockroaches for identification of the German ones, along with many others. These creatures are named for their physical characteristics and their discovers, so the name does not mean that the roaches in question are strictly from Germany.
