My baby sister did summer school a couple of times. Once was due to bad grades and once was so she could skip certain classes but still get the credits needed for high school graduation. Maybe Linus is looking to skip certain classes. But that punishment bit really sounds like he got bad grades. Maybe someone confused him for Lucy.
I did summer school one year because we could not afford to go on vacation. I could choose to go from 9AM till noon, ornoon to 3PM. I took the early class & I got 2 credits!
My daughter is going to be involved in a program which is like summer school, but it’s for academically-advanced 6th graders. It’s a highly competitive group: only 33 6th graders in the city are chosen, and that’s after a 10-page application, an essay AND an interview. It’s a 3-summer commitment. It’s also for high school and college students who wish to become teachers; they are the teachers in this program (overseen by accredited teachers, of course).
I went to summer school a few times just because my parents wanted me to have an activity, or to take an elective that I hadn’t taken during the regular year. It’s not just for makeup work, or at least it wasn’t back then.
My best friend in high school did summer school, even though his grades were good. He came to the school halfway through a school year, and as a result, found himself a couple credits shy as graduation neared. He found going to summer school preferable to coming back for another full semester in the fall.
Another summer of driving my grandson to summer school. The kid will not work for his high school English teacher! And he has the SAME one for all 3 years! One more summer next year to go….
Some of my best summer memories involved the “Summer skills” program—it was held at a school, but centered around more “fun” classes like computers and cooking. (Also lots of sports programs, which are probably fun for most kids, but I never got the hang of hitting the golf ball…)
I had a classmate who took English in summer school. Because English is the one class we needed all four years of in high school, she was able to graduate a year early because of it… I wish I had thought of that.
@Snoopy_FanHello, Snoopy_Fan. Guess what?-I have an interview on Friday! It’s for an apprenticeship I recently applied for. As you already know, I’m starting my Work Placement tomorrow so I will have to inform them about my interview on Friday. I’m only there 2 days a week so it should be fine.-So I need a lot of luck this week. It’s going to be a busy one.-I will keep you updated on everything. Thanks so much for all your support again. You’re a wonderful friend.
Can you imagine the trouble the Stationary store has with that particular brand of Note Paper?.Customers opening packs to verify that it Really Does work before they Buy it ….Explaining to those same customers that you need a Special Nitrogen Only chamber to write the note in. And the Special Envelopes the notes have to be Delivered in..No wonder the stuff is so difficult to Find.

I guess they switched around the Lila is coming week with the following week so that this Saturday Peanuts may rerun a 1990’s D-Day related strip.

On my first day in Secondary School, My Mum put a note in my lunchbox saying “We are thinking of you. Have a great day!”
Very sweet.
