Those ‘efficient’ models use so little water you have to wash everything twice.

I have a GE washer and dryer, in Harvest Gold from 1973, still work, never been serviced. And they work perfectly without a complaint year in and year out. My neighbor has a pair of Samsung HE appliances. In the last 8 months the repair guy has been here 5 times for service. They sure don’t make them like they used to.I got mine for $50, they paid over $1800, not counting the $1400 in service calls they have paid for since they bought them in 2013.They may be saving them. energy by not working

We’ve had pretty good luck with Sears appliances. Then, we’ve had pretty good luck with all other brands too. Except an Epson printer that went bad after minimal use.

We bought two front loaders in 2011, one for my sons and the other for us. One Frigidare, other- Whirlpool, both on year end sales as floor models, never plugged in. Both quit within 6 months. My youngest son got his running until the warranty was over; replacement part was minimum $350 + a service call. Sold it for $50. Bought a used “old school” that keeps on working.

we switched back to our old Maytag, had called for service. Whirlpool shipped the new motherboard to us, but the service company went out of business before we got the part. Called for another service call and six months later it finally was serviced. Worked about two week. Went back to the old washer and the front loader is in the back yard, keeping the trash can company. Bought a used HE Maytag top loader at ReStore for $150; it is great (so far), better at cleaning than the old Maytag.
