Now is this a trip between brothers-in-law, or a trip for the whole family?

Really???

I think they both work hard, so he can “get away from it all” as long as she can too (without the extra work that Pacopuddy lists)

This could just be called “Bad Marriage”. Where’s the “better” in “For Better or Worse”?

If I were to announce a trip like that, my wife would be thrilled. She’d be happy to know I was doing something for myself and taking time out to enjoy life a little. We both work hard to keep a household and we both have routines that keep us tied down a bit……maybe even keeping us in a bit of a rut. That said, I think it is in the attitude one takes on life. If my wife was going off with a friend for an “out of town” shopping spree I’d be 100% supportive.

Oh, so clueless.

On a trip like that, Hubby took 1 or 2 of the kids with him and then it’ was a break for us all.It was difficult when he left for pleasure without taking any of the boys.

The first campgrounds I remember going to with my family was just outside of Parry Sound! http://campkoinonia.ca/ (It’s weird to think of them having a web site.)

Seems to me the point is that the men have planned this trip for some time now and haven’t bothered to mention it to Ellie. How unconscious can you get?

This is the beginning of the first of Lynn’s “poignant” story lines. Hang on, it will be a great ride.

It’s not that they go on a trip. It’s that they feel so entitled and secure in their freedom without consideration for others and don’t let you know until all of the plans are made that tick women off. If we were to just announce that once we had the plane tickets, the men of the household would be enraged.

I think they need to watch “Deliverance” before they go.

Looking in people’s mouths and doing demolition and reconstruction all day is no picnic either. Have a little compassion for his sake. Everybody needs time off.

With younger children, this plan would be a problem for me. But if the children were older (late teens +), then I would host a girls nite-all-out-n-rowdy shin ding while he was away.
