Couple more weeks in school out. I asked my teachers what kind of extra credit I could do to bring my grades up. They all said I'd have decent grades if I'd done the work they assigned instead of waiting til the last minute to slop something together. So, next year, you should ask about extra credit wa-a-a-y before now. Yuh.

When I took Freshman English III in college I had a terrable teacher (he actually taught English as a foreign language but the school asked him to cover a regular English class, but even his foreign language students thought he was a terrable teacher). My first writing assignment I go a D, so I went in and asked him if there was a way for me to bring the grade up. He gave me a shortstory to read and report on which I did. I liked the story and wrote the report, and before I turned it in I asked a friend to read it and tell me what she thought. After reading my report she wanted to read the story herself because my report made it sound so interesting. I turned in the paper and when I got it back I had another D, and when I asked the teacher why he said it was because I missed the whole point of the shortstory. But when we discussed the different points of the story he realized that while I had a different view of the story, my understanding was just as valid as his, but since he’d already given me a D for the report he wasn’t going to change it. That’s when I realized that in some classes it’s not how well you know the material, it’s how well you know the teacher and what they want to hear.

I repeated the class a year later with a different teacher and got one of the best grades in the class, the new teacher couldn’t understand why I got such a bad grade the first time I took the class.
