It is extremely rare for couples to have “communication” difficulties. The problem is almost always that they communicate just fine, but don’t like what they hear.
That is one EXCELLENT way to kill the trust in a relationship… ask a question you know you don’t want to hear answered honestly, and wait for the response… if they tell you what they think you want to hear (even if you know the truth is otherwise), you’re left to wonder, “What else will they say JUST to save my feelings?” And you’ll never believe a word they say again.
Tanya, hopefully, tomorrow’s Shoe will be different enough so Sarge112751 won’t be able to copy and paste his comment for a third day in a row.
As for Shoe, I think that’s a fair deal. Or maybe he should pull the “Don’t ask, won’t tell” line.
The one thing wrong with this is this;if she didn’t want to hear the answer she should not have asked the question. Most good ‘ole boys will not lie;they will tell the truth and suffer the consquences.
“No, the dress doesn’t make you look fat, the FAT makes you look fat.”
Sort of like the female definition of “communicating”, meaning you need to tell her EVERYTHING, and in full detail, omitting nothing, but… she expects you to read her mind (“I shouldn’t have to tell you!”).
thebird55 - Yes; doesn’t Shoe have, like, 6 ex-wives or something? Some people never learn.
Sarge - I ALWAYS have the last word in any discussing with my wife:
”Yes, dear.”
(Oh, rats - Lewreader beat me to it - again!)
Gathman - So true!
Rmom - No; some very wise, prominent psychologists says that usually, by the time the woman is asking that question, she’s really crying out for attention. She doesn’t feel that he is paying enough attention to her so she then is unsure of how he feels towards her or what his opinion of her is. Women need a steady stream of affirmation. When they don’t get it, they pull the pin on this grenade and place it in the man’s lap.
Honesty is always the best policy. If you lie, she will know it and now you have established that you’re willing to lie to her and be deceptive - which then brings additional doubts into her mind - “What else does he lie to me about?!?”
“Does this dress make me look fat?”
“No, that looks just fine. It’s all that fat you’ve got hanging out that makes you look fat!”
My late sister had a medical condition that caused her to gain weight. She once had someone get on her case in her husband’s presence about how big she was. Her husband’s reaction was to take her in his arms, kiss her and say, “The more to have and to hold.”
My longtime girlfriend also had a medical condition that made her gain weight. Okay, the truth is, it made her fat. So my last post was no joke. I meant it. And would still mean it if she would have me back.
BTW, I think that saying is, “More cushion for the pushin’”.

Shoe - you have the right to REMAIN SILENT and I suggest you USE it … NOW!
Any time a man gets the LAST word in an argument, he can rest assured, it’ll actually be the FIRST word in the NEXT argument!

sarge112751: It’s amazing that you were able to use the same comment for two comics today!!! Exactly word for word no less! :D
As a woman, I’ve never asked that question of any man in my life… Just can’t justify torturing them that way when there are other ways to do so… :D

What happens if she gets fat and really wants his honest opinion? He is forced to lie by verbal contract for all time.
