THANK YOU so much for all the good birthday wishes and great cards yesterday!!! Even Grumpy Cat sent his wishes, although I am sure reluctantly. All of you Ten Cats fans really helped make it a fun day. Freddog and I did get out for a hike in mostly pleasant weather, hit a few snow flurries and icy winds at the top. Further north, many parts of the sierra got some decent snow, and all the passes are shut down. Good news!!
Hi, hope everyone has a great Friday and a wonderful weekend, and an early Happy Mother’s Day to all the Moms out there!! Mother-in-law will be here in about an hour to kidnap us for the weekend, so I will be incommunicado until late Sunday or Monday morning.
I’ve mentioned that my neighbor is moving into a retirement place in Calif. She thought she could take all 3 cats. She found out yesterday, just one is allowed. So she took the others to the shelter. One is 14 and one is 12. Both are declawed and Kathi is the only mom they ever had. I have been baby sitting them for 10 yrs. I was angry and in tears when I found out first thing this morning. I had to go get them. I am appealing to Best Friends to take them into their senior care facility. RIght now they are in the big bathroom and the one eyed cat is in the den with me. He got accepted and will go up on the 18th. When I got home, Kathi and her son were still here so I went over and asked if she took their beds or toys or special food to the shelter because Debbie didn’t see anything. She said no. That made me even angrier. She gave me a container of food until I can get a bag at Pet Smart.
Well, poofed up Chesney has got to be the MOST adorable (for him) thing ever. Thanks, Graham, for this great comic today. Wonder if Fido and the fleas got to go through as well.
Q of A thank goodness you were able to get them fast. People such as that have no business having pets. I’m sure you will find them a wonder place to live out their final years.I don’t know what I would do without my two.On another note, you all are aware of the generous and big heart Gweedo has. After getting together for lunch a few weeks ago he realized how much an invalid I am. I am hoping to have both hips replaced later this year. They are so bad I have difficulty dressing and feeding myself some days. I have been sleeping in a recliner for over two years because of the pain. The chair I have been using was my mom’s. She used it for about 15 years and she has been gone for over 9. You can imagine the shape it was in. Well, our Gweedo found a really nice cushy, pretty, comfortable one at the thrift store the other day. Guess who delivered the new one and hauled off the old one today? All by himself because in my condition I was no help at all. It is bigger, softer, nicer than I could have ever hoped for. Of course, both my kids, Buster and Precious, had to approve. They think it is great because the arms are big enough for them to lay on. That way since they are too heavy to lay on mom without my hurting, they can still lay close. Because of my screen name Gweedo calls me Puppy face, for ppyfss. So the world will know just how much Puppy face appreciates the thoughtfulness and big heartedness of Gweedo, I am posting here for all to know that angels do walk among us.
Gweedo – you are just so kind and thoughtful. Bless your big heart. Thanks you so much for bringing comfort and good cheer to a new friend. Puppy Face, I hope you sleep very comfortably from now on until your hip replacements on the new soft cushions. Life changing to have a good sleeping place! What a nice uplifting story for the day.
I do not know you except for on these forums, but to me, you are a prince among men for what you did for Puppyface. That sure sounds like a true gentleman and friend. Congratulations to you, and I hope I could meet you someday to shake your hand and give you a big Great Lakes Hug…..
Puppy face, you must be a great person to earn such a friend. Congratulations to you, too, for being a friend to both cats and humans.
Update on “the girls”. I’ve been in touch with Best Friends and am going to submit the requests on Monday. I have an appointment at the vet to get their SNAP test done. Those are $40 each and the office visit is $45 each. $85 per cat so far. I might have to pay the $20 adoption fee to the shelter if I want to submit the request under my name. Now I’m up to $125 to get the girls a new home. Brad paid Kathi $100 for Ron’s bike. Now I wish he hadn’t bought it. But, we all know what they say about hindsight. So I’ll suck it up and move on with the plan.
In the meantime. Mitzi is here in the den with me and One Eyed Jack. So far, no noise. Not even hissing. Halle is a loner so she’s fine in the other room.
My kids and I are going to have to have a conversation. They have been hogging the chair. I am about ready to shut it down for the night and am looking forward to enjoying the new chair. We may have to draw straws to see who gets the chair. I guess I am going to have to remind them who’s boss. I’m glad they approve, but I need my sleep. As far as my pain and the housing situation I ask that everyone keep thinking good thoughts. Good night all.
