Love Ashleigh Brilliant’s work! I’ve had some of his books for over 30 years, and still go back and read them. Haven’t heard anything about him for awhile, so I’m glad to hear he’s still around and (presumably) working!.That being said, I agree with some of the posters here who want some of the Sherpas to get better coverage (and money!). There are some really good strips over there.
This comic looks good so I think I’ll add it to watch to.
Also thanks for all the great shouts for Sherpa!!! I know since I put No Ordinary Life on there I’ve seen a lot of really good comics on there and some of the cartoonists are truly talented!!!
You might consider me a “Plant”. That’s because I know Ashleigh Brilliant. In fact, he’s my 4th cousin! But I just wanted to chime in on my famous cousin. He’s published over 25 books over the years. He has a PHd in History from the University of CA-Berkley. The author of Pot Shots and sometimes call Brilliant Thoughts is a genuine spectator of the human condition and has that inate ability to see a slice of the human condition and present it in a way that makes you smile. I love him dearly. He once dedicated one of his books to me, saying I do such a great job being his cousin, if it were possible, he’ld promote me to some closer relationship. My personal favorite pot shot is from many years ago: “I may not be totally perfect, but parts of me are excellent”! How can you argue with that statement???
Dr Toon, I’m someone who carried one around for decades (until an arsonist took care of it). Beau Nobo, I was in the Haight then, too, and heard him sing in the park. He has an eponymous website and sends newsletters. Look on YouTube, too! It’s uncanny how often a Pot-Shot is exactly the one I need to see when it comes along.
Until they took it out of my local paper, I’ve read Pot-Shots all the time. Then I found Ashleigh’s website. Now I get to see it here in GoComics. Love them all. Will we get to see the very first ones also?
So very glad to see Ashleigh Brilliant’s Pot-Shots here at Go Comics! What a great addition to my daily mix. I have a bunch of brightly colored Pot-Shot postcards which I started collecting in the late 60’s (I was VERY young when I began buying them, of course!).
Also…just to clarify, Pot-Shots are not comics, they’re epigrams. Certainly humorous - including some great life observations to which we can all relate, at some point in our lives!
So True! I loved this strip so much that I cut each one out of the Rocky Mountain News and taped them to sheets of paper and put them in a 3-ring binder to go over them later when I needed a good look on how life can be! So glad to see it coming back!
Pot-shots saved my sanity when visiting my (hypercritical!) mother in Ojai, years ago. So delighted to rediscover Ashleigh and Pot-shots, and his interesting and humane blog…still keeping me sane!!

I have a box of these I’ve saved since the late 70’s when I lived in NE OH and Pot-shots was in the Plain Dealer. So pleased to have access again!

I had several book collections of Pot-Shots something like 20 years ago. I love these things. Glad to see that he’s finally getting a wider audience.
