As a teacher of 30 years, I have to disagree with the woman in the grocery store. Ultimately, the success or failure of a student relies on the student! Teachers can only do so much. We give them information, encourage exploration, instill a sense of pride, teach various skills that are useful in life, but it is ultimately the student’s choice whether to act on the lessons given or to reject our efforts.
