    BillThe Nuke: I was about to agree, but within my lifetime, the male life expectancy at birth was 48 (infant mortality was horrendous then).

    From the U.S. Social Security Administration’s Life Tables “Life expectancy at age 0 for males increased 28.6 years from 51.5 years for births in 1900 to 80.1 years for births in 2001. During the same period, life expectancy at age 0 for females increased 26.0 years from 58.3 years to 84.3 years.” I know it’s Irrelevant to the question of bathroom trips for a male aged 53, but…

    ericheadley: 82, and you? The country was primarily rural, a major depression, and negligible health insurance. Still, females could make 53. Once past “infant” one could expect getting into the 60s.
