The tostada was pretty good at a Sikh restaurant in Santa Fe, why not curry from a casino?

Vine Deloria Jr. said something to the effect of, “It’s a good thing Columbus wasn’t looking for Turkey.”
Fun fact: In India, many people refer to Indigenous Americans as “red Indians.” Seems they may have been watching a few too many Westerns or something.

It’s hard to lose the ‘indian’ thing when refering to Native Am’s. I was raised with TV cowboys and John Wayne movies and I have to make a mental adjustment every time I refer to them to this day. Old habits die hard.

Still, I heard a scholar asked why he called them “Indians” (interviewers are always so smugly PC).His response: “That’s what they call themselves” and quoted a guy from a reservation: “I speak Indian, but my kids don’t.”
