In case you did not realize it, cars from that era are very nearly indestructible from hitting something. I was in a ’53 Pontiac when it hit a full-size buzzard while we were going about 60 mph. Buzzard went spinning off into the brush. We stopped in the next town and all we had to do was wash a little bit of buzzard guts off the fender and we were good to go. No dents, dings or anything. A modern car would have had the front quarter panel crushed all the way back to the door.

Back in the 50s and the 60s you could always tell when your classmate had been riding with their Mom or Dad – they had black eyes, busted noses or were missing permanent teeth! No such thing as saftey belts and the dashboards were made of good ol’ American steel!

Studebaker made a car with a bullet point on the front. You could have probably used it to take out buildings.

My old VW bugs save me a couple of times. They didn’t make it but I was able to walk away with only whip lash

I like the Night Court episode where Christine was in a wreck in the ’57 Buick Roadmaster her Dad traded her mini-sports car for…not sure if it was another car or semi….but she said the only thing that happened to the car was the clock started working!!

From the look on the mechanics face in the last panal he probably wishes he’d been there to see the view.

I remember a girl at work who shaved her legs just up to the skirt line. One day she wore a shorter skirt. I’ll never not see that. Her legs were hairier than mine.

My dad taught me to drive on a ’49 Stude. I had to feed it 13 quarts of oil one night when a buddy of mine and myself took it on a little road trip. Outside all the oil, it ran fine until the day he sold it. The new owner fixed the oil leak and drove it for a long time. Had my first date in that car.
