I’ve switched from reusing gift wrap to reusing the Sunday funnies as gift wrap or including with the gift another gift, such as a dish towel used as wrapping.
I don’t know why she would do this, but one of my aunts would not open gifts in front of you. she would save them and open them later. Sometimes she would save christmas gifts and open them on her birthday, or just whenever throughout the year.My brothers and I stopped wrapping things for her or just put them in zip lock bags.
As a kid, it irked me that adults would open a gift by carefully un-taping the flaps and removing the paper intact. Just rip it off!! We ended up throwing it away anyhow, I’m pretty sure. We used new paper every year.
Hahaha, my dad and grandmother always used a pocketknife to cut the tape on presents so they could fold up the paper and reuse it. My other grandmother bought really tough, shiny paper that the tape peeled off of; that stuff lasted for YEARS.

Is that going to be the Father’s Day gift?

I reuse wrapping paper, if it is clean and in good shape and there is enough to work with. Even put patterns and colors together.

That depends on your economic status. Few today remember the Great Depression.

We reuse wrapping paper and even used to use the funnies from the Sunday paper, when we got a paper. Saves trees!
