richard's poor almanac the lit'rate snob a comic tragedy by richard thompson on sunday morn the lit'rate snob faces an unpleasant job. snob: book world i must needs peruse to catch up on some book reviews. but book world nestles deep within the sunday comics' gaudy skin. and comics move him to disdain- snob: they snuff out neurons in my brain! comics so grousing at imagined wrongs, and gingerly, with salad tongs, he lifts the comics from their bag and stifles a reflexive gag. snob: ugk alas! with unprotected eyes he sees the puerile imbecilities- the talking dogs & witless cats, the little men in derby hats, the charmless antics of small tots, drawn with squiggles, specks & blots. comics and there, among the grisly mirth of peanuts, mutts & mary worth, he spies a certain comic strip that makes his pedant's heartbreak skip, his throat constrics! his temples throb! a comic called - "the lit'rate snob"! the lit'rate s

But what about the book reviews, my poetical friend?!Comics are good; but in the Sunday paper the literary section is (or used to be) almost as important!
