Caulfield: Stupid knot in my stupid shoulder! Mrs. Olsen: Any questions? Anyone? No? Frazz: That's right. You can't raise your hand. Caulfield: She's taunted me 20 times today.
I’ve been wanting to say this since the beginning of this story arc and though I very possibly missed someone bringing it up already, I’ll do so anyway – what the hells is someone Caulfield’s age doing getting a muscle cramp or knot or whatever that is that debilitating? Maybe if he were a very out-of-shape fat kid who suddenly did some strenuous activity, but any reasonably active child? No. At that age, if you can’t walk it off or work it out in short order, then it’s not a knot, but something more serious.
posted day 1- anly think that fixes this is a massage on the muscle, which the people old enough to know how to do aren’t supposed to dot, even though the neck is well outside of “areas covered by a bathing suit”

Actually, the teacher asking “any questions” is being frowned upon by the Common Core –police– administrators. Teachers should ask questions or give prompts that invite deeper, cross curricular conversations among students. So something familiar like “What is six times seven?” becomes a ten minute discussion on the merits of Douglas Adams and Jackie Robinson.
