The other day i got to see one of the local eagles decide to scavenge something dead on the beach. It was substantial enough to get the attention of something a big as an eagle. The funny thing about it was he got the attention of a crow, and the crow was not happy. After realizing that the eagle was not going to be driven off by strafing tactics, the crow landed, snuck up behind the eagle, and started tugging at the eagles tail feathers. He would then leap away when the eagle jerked around to deal with the annoyance. This was repeated several time, because the eagle was not going to lea its prize easily. It only left after getting its fill. The whole time i was laughing my * * * off.Fun.

Crows, ravens and smaller birds fly around eagles and other birds of prey to chase them away from their meals or their babies. It’s called “mobbing” and it’s usually successful…for awhile.
