Good morning Tracy fans. Mumbles is enjoying the show.-——-Hot Snow was the pilot episode of the Avengers tv program. However, I doubt that is what is BB Eyes meant.-——-Be wealthy and wise, my friends.

“Hot Snow” is what snowbirds who flock to Florida for the winter call the beach. The girl kinda resembles Sparkle, doesn’t she?

Hey guys, I bet tomorrow’s strip will be a single panel of Tracy saluting the American flag with fireworks going off on the background. Who else believes this?

Do any of you guys have a theory as to why the writers spent an entire week on Honeymoon and Annie getting harassed by a couple of mean girls at the mall? Before that, Doubleup told the story of how he was bullied as a kid. Is this going anywhere or was last week National Bullying Awareness week?

Does anyone else think that beach ball sort of looks like a purple “Bat-Signal”?I thought it looked kind of “moonish” – I wondered if it was some sort of foreshadowing. You have the Sun in the background, causing moon-shaped shadows to fall on the beach ball.

If it is true that “snow-birds” from the North refer to Florida sand as “hot snow”, as some have said, then we have a double meaning here, because “snow” is definitely a slang for cocaine, and that would mean Mr. Bigg sent Mumbles on a sort of working vacation.

Many of you guys speculate that Mr. Big is actually an old Chester Gould villain Mr. Bribery. That would be cool, but I’m hoping it’s the #1 Tracy villain of all time, Flattop! I know Flattop died, but he wouldn’t be the first Tracy villain brought back to life. What do you guys think?

The Moon Maid episodes follow a story line that is in the same direction that I commented on in the Annie strip… my entry in the Annie comments (Following) echo my thoughts for what is going on here.Comments from Annie: Curtis and Staton HAVE NOT DONE an outstanding job in the Dick Tracy crossovers, or the strip in generall….. crossovers are a gasping grasp for any help or direction in a dead end to their stewardship of the Dick Tracy franchise. They have taken their shot at what could have been an evolutionary step for the strip and missed the target.

Why does Blaze think it “convenient” the Mumbles wasn’t present for the meeting with Mr. Bigg? If Mumbles is supposed to be picking a shipment of coke, why is he playing directly into Blaze’s snarky surmise? Apparently she doesn’t approve of his Work Ethic. And she seems justified by what we see of his relaxed self-indulgence in panel 3….

Now she appears to be a good buddy-friend-partner to Honeymoon, at least until maybe, one day someone will reinstate her on her own ground as a stand alone running comic strip.

I doubt she’ll ever be reinstated, but at least she’s still “alive” so-to-speak. Mike Curtis has mentioned that they’re not planning any cross-overs for next year. He said they’ve proven they can do crossovers, so they’re done with those for now.

The Annie crossover had good points and bad points. It was just a unique opportunity.

Mike Connors as Mannix appeared on Dick Van Dyke’s show where he (Van Dyke) was an M.D. who consulted for a police department.

And of course there were often crossovers between spin-offs …

    Beverly Hillbillies/Green Acres/Petticoat Junction

    Man From Uncle/Girl From Uncle

    Six Million Dollar Man/Bionic Woman

    Happy Days/Laverne & Shirley/Mork & Mindy

Many of the Norman Lear shows

The Danny Thomas Show/Joey Bishop Show/Andy Griffith Show, Gomer Pyle: USMC and Mayberry: RFD all existed in the same universe to some degree.

Then there were the really weird one-offs, like the Man From UNCLE/Please Don’t Eat The Daisies mash-up, and – Apparently – A meet-up between the Dukes of Hazard and Alice …… Which I’ve yet to confirm.

Intro (skip if you’ve already read any of the previous intros):

Hello, greetings, casual readers of past Tracy stories. I’m here because I’m on 2 missions. The first is something I’ve never done before, read each Tracy story by Mike Curtis (or his occasional guest writer) in one sitting each. I feel his stories are worth it. IMHO, Curtis is by far the best post-Gould writer this strip has ever had, and we’re all lucky to have him.

My second mission is to provide an immediately useful Featured Comment whenever needed. My 3 friends below will reply to me. You can read their replies if you like, but their only real purpose is to bump up this comment to the Featured Comment.

There are 2 basic types of immediately useful Featured Comments: anytime that day’s strip quotes a real song. I will provide an html to a recording to that song so you’ll know the tune even if you’ve never heard it before. The other type (this type) is to provide you with a Mumblespeak translator when needed.

    End Intro

    “What’d he say?”

Mumblespeak Translator: He said, “Nice view!”
