Zonker: It came special delivery. Must be important. Mike: It's from the agency... Finally! They're all moved into the new offices at the World Trade Center! I start work on Monday! Zonker: Really? Hey, wonderful news, Mike! No kidding! The best! Mike: It sure is. Somebody's finally bringing an income into this house. Zonker: I know. It really takes the pressure off all of us. Mike: It does not, Zonker!

I know I haven’t read enough of these old strips to be able to follow this. What agency was Mike working for that was based in the World Trade Center?

It wasn’t that Mike “left” the job. It’s that his Summer Fantasy that particular year was him floating away from the grind and grime of Manhattan for a clean, very well paying high tech job under Bernie in Seattle, and at the end of the dream, poof! it was all true!
