Just guarantee that your players will vote straight Republican & I’m betting they can get a Koch Brother on board for it.

I always find it interesting that the democrats bash the republicans as the “rich” when the vast numbers of rich democrat elite get a free pass -lets not forget George Soros and nearly the entire hollywood elite, the music performers (with the exception of a number of country music singers) and seemingly most celebrities that get their hackles up if a republican dares to mention their names or play any of their songs. No, those people get ignored -even though they donate heavily toward liberal causes and push democrat party members. You would think that the rich only push Republican -where the truth is quite different.Unions are flush with cash, and while their businesses (without which they would have no jobs) suffer greatly under democrats, they still push democrats -and then beg for exemptions for their members (the ACA being a fine example).Ever wonder why the Democrats are called Hypocrites so much?

The team name is currently “Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim” – “California” hasn’t been part of the name since the 1990s.

Way to transform a sports strip into a political polemic, guys !The point ( I think ) Bill’s trying to make is that the baseball owners don’t give a damn about the fans. All they care about is the bottom line. When it has become financially prohibitive for an average dad or a granddad on a pension to bring a kid to the ballpark to watch a ballgame, something is drastically wrong with our “national game”. The blame doesn’t have a political label. There is only one word for the sham and shame of American professional sports – GREED – on the part of the owners and the players at the expense of the fans.

@LinguistVery true, but don’t forget that college sports are at least as greedy as the pro sports, and much more hypocritical.

One of the joys of being an expat in South America is that I can look at things a bit more objectively and dispassionately. I am not as interested in the dangerous and self-destructive sport of American Politics, although, I do vote in every election.I get to watch MLB and NFL live on ESPN and Fox with Spanish speaking broadcasters ( I don’t watch NBA ) and without the myriad of commercial interruptions. Although I speak and understand Spanish relatively well, I find that I can “tune out” the announcers and focus on the game. Gee ! The game ! That’s what it is folks – a game. When sport becomes business and business becomes a sport, the game is lost.Even my sport – soccer – was destroyed back in the ’60’s when Georgie Best signed for Manchester United and became the first millionaire soccer player. Money has corrupted sport, as it has politics ( it may be argued that politics is simply another sport )Albeit, as I type this, I am looking out my window in Machala, Ecuador and watching a bunch of kids playing street soccer and ask the rhetorical question, whose having more fun ? The professional player owned by agents, managers, and team owners or the kid in the street ?IT’S A KID’S GAME !
